Flexible Steel Track Undercarriage for Pile Driving Machinery – Italy Project
Project Overview
Our lightweight and high-stability steel track undercarriage is applied to 28-ton crawler pile driving rigs, serving a urban infrastructure foundation construction project in northern Italy. The project covers urban road reconstruction, residential foundation piling and small bridge foundation construction, with diverse and complex working sites including urban hardened roads, soft soil green belts and narrow construction road sections. The customer required the undercarriage to have good passing performance, stable support performance and minimal damage to the urban construction environment.

Core Challenges
Urban construction scenarios put forward higher comprehensive requirements for the undercarriage: Firstly, the construction site is narrow and densely distributed, requiring the undercarriage to have flexible steering performance and low ground pressure to adapt to limited construction space and prevent road surface damage. Secondly, the alternating distribution of soft soil and hard pavement on the site is easy to cause track slipping and uneven stress, which affects the piling accuracy of the equipment. Thirdly, urban construction has strict requirements on equipment noise and environmental protection, and the undercarriage operation needs to meet EU urban environmental protection noise standards.

Customized Solutions
Aiming at the characteristics of Italian urban foundation construction, we designed a targeted steel track undercarriage solution:
1. Low ground pressure and anti-slip track design: Optimized track width and contact area with the ground, effectively reducing unit ground pressure, avoiding sinking on soft soil pavement; matched with anti-slip track tooth structure to prevent equipment slipping during piling operation and ensure construction accuracy.
2. Low-noise stable walking system: Adopts precision-machined matching parts and buffer vibration reduction structure, reducing friction and impact noise during equipment walking and operation, fully complying with EU urban construction noise emission standards.
3. Compact and flexible structural layout: Optimized the overall structural size and steering coordination mechanism of the undercarriage, realizing flexible steering and in-situ adjustment, adapting to narrow urban construction sections and improving construction flexibility.
Project Achievements
During the whole construction period, the equipped steel track undercarriage performed excellently in multiple complex urban working conditions. The equipment has flexible movement, stable support during piling operation, zero slipping and offset problems, ensuring 100% construction precision compliance. The low-noise operation design avoids noise disturbance to the surrounding urban residents, and no road and green belt damage occurs during the construction process, meeting the local urban environmental protection and construction specifications. The construction efficiency of the equipment is increased by 20% compared with the traditional undercarriage, helping the customer complete the project delivery ahead of schedule, and winning high praise from the construction party and the project owner.
